The Photo of Two Girls Went Viral,But It's Not What You Think

Earlier this week, a Brazilian man called Nelson Felippe posted this photo on Facebook captioned with what, at first glance, appears to be a disgusting homophobic rant.
In the foreground, two women can be seen staring into each other’s eyes, while others mill around on a Rio subway platform.
The post, which is written in Portugese, quickly went gone viral. But, it’s not what you think.
Nelson writes on his page: “I’m not prejudiced, I think everyone does what you want out of your life. But I think it’s absurd I be forced to witness a scene like that.
“What one does in private is your business, but, yes, what is done in public concerns me. And I refuse to see a scene like this and consider it normal,” he adds.
At this point, you may wish to stop reading what appears to be a homophobic rant about the two women. However, this really isn’t what it seems.
Nelson continues: “They are challenging social conventions and this can be dangerous. If tragedy strikes, or worse, if someone dies, who will we blame?”
The post concludes: “What would happen to a child who sees this scene every day? Kids will think its normal to wait for the subway on the yellow line.
“So don’t act like that guy over there. Follow the example of the girls.”
Nelson just served a lesson in Tube safety and acceptance of others in one brilliant post, which was viewed over 100,000 times in 24-hours.
Always stand behind that yellow line guys. Listen to Nelson.
